Sometimes, the words “Mexican food” alone are enough to whet the appetites of many people. The residents of Seattle are no different. Even though finding Seattle Mexican food is not very difficult, finding the ideal that this North-western city has to offer can be a daunting task. Some of the ideal Mexican restaurants in the country can be found in Seattle, but sorting out the chaff from the wheat can be a challenge. Here are a few things to think about in finding a good Seattle Mexican restaurant.

Price

Affordability is something that most of us look for when we spend on food. Often, good restaurants charge a lot of money for food, and they can be out of reach for most people. Seattle Mexican food need not be costly to be good. A lot of the ingredients used in Mexican cooking are relatively cheap, so good Seattle Mexican food does not need to be expensive.

Variety

A good Mexican restaurant should also have a lot of variety when it comes to the Mexican dishes they serve. They should have the staples like burritos, quesadillas and tacos, but they should also have some of the lesser-known Mexican dishes like Carnitas and Mexican desserts like flan. A varied menu also means that you can take in a place more often since you can try a new dish each time you come in to eat.

Drinks

The ideal thing to go with good Seattle Mexican food would be a cold pitcher of Margarita. Some excellent restaurants also serve a variety of Mexican beers and other Mexican drinks. This helps in giving diners a more trusty Mexican experience. Some people do not have time to go to Mexico for a real Mexican experience and this can help them get away from the city, at least for the duration of a meal.

Catering Services

For people who want to get a taste of Seattle Mexican food in the celebrations they hold, a restaurant with a catering service can be the answer to your problems. Be the envy of your friends as you hold successful celebrations with a distinct Mexican flavour.

Outdoor Dining

To further lend authenticity to Mexican dining, a good restaurant might also have a patio for outdoor dining. Diners can enjoy their meals under the stars in a Mexican style patio. Outdoor bars are also evenhandedly common, complete with Mexican style structure and lighting.

Healthy Eating

An excellent Mexican restaurant should also have healthy options for health-conscious diners. This is not a problem, since many Mexican dishes are healthy to begin with. Mexican salads and side dishes are often very tasty as well as very healthy. Many dishes, like guacamole, also use healthy and nutrient rich ingredients like Avocados.

Finding good Seattle Mexican food can be a fun and rewarding challenge. Mexican restaurants are a good place to bring dates or just hang out with friends. Good food, good drinks and good ambience are things that a good Mexican restaurant should offer their customers.

Is Taco Bell a pathetic fast food style mexican restaurant?

Question by Geoid: Is Taco Bell a pathetic fast food style mexican restaurant?
I’ve never ingested there but my cousin warned me. Bland tastes, sloppy and greasy, looks like slammer crap. Should I try it out for a snack later?

Best answer:

Answer by EmberTaylor
Taco Bell and Taco Cabana are both pathetic excuses for a Mexican restaurant. Their food is nothing compared to home-cooked and some of the more costly restaurant’s food. It is greasy and sloppy, and if you tried to take it, it’ll falls apart and the like. One time I got a couple of cold tacos from them. Don’t take there unless you really want to be disappointed.

Traditional Italian Food – The Sweet Smells of Sunny Days

24 January 2011 by
Categories: Culinary

Italian cuisine goes back a long way and it has taken many centuries for it to evolve though the early roots go all the way back to the fourth century BC. In addition, the Greeks, Romans, Turks and the Arabs have all had a great influence on Italian cuisine. So we see that traditional Italian food is rich in history and apiece region of Italy has added its own signature dish. Traditional Italian food and Italian food recipes have become staples the world over for their simple yet succulent dishes that combine robust sauces, cured meats and a variety of delectable cheeses to produce exquisite and filling dishes. From Tuscany and Lombardy to the islands of Sardinia and Sicily traditional Italian food is a flavourful expression of the rich history of the country.

For most non-Italians the Italian cuisine is restricted to the few dishes that have managed to acquire world wide acclaim, videlicet spaghetti and pizza. People tend to adopt that traditional Italian food is all pretty much alike and that there is no such variety in the Italian way of cooking. The truth however is quite the contrary as Italian cuisine in its entirety is extremely diverse, rich and varied.

The multiplicity of the recipes that you find for pasta is a great example of the extensiveness of Italian cuisine. If you ask ten different people in the same region about how to make some pasta sauce you would end up with ten different recipes. First courses like spaghetti, risotto or gnocchi are very favourite as they are light and simple to prepare, and offer virtually unlimited recipes for the creative cook.

Pasta happens to be the most favourite food item in Italy. Any pasta base can be accented with an unlimited number of additions including sausage, chicken, red and green peppers, mussels, clams and a wide variety of other meats and vegetables.

But Italian food doesn’t stop there. You will find antipasto (starters): Cold cuts and cheeses with fresh garden vegetables and special bread. The sweet smells of nature and sunny days of spring and summer. Superb salads, beautiful breads and sumptuous puddings, make up the rest of the gloriously fresh menus. Roast fillet of salmon wrapped in pancetta served with braised lentils, green beans & a mustard dressing; braised lamb shank served with chromatic potato puree in a rich tomato sauce;. Fillet of pork in a mushroom, leek, three mustard and white wine cream sauce; stuffed beef roll with Parma ham, spinach and mozzarella cheese cooked in a red wine beef stock and artichoke sauce. The list goes on. Of course there is always a vast selection of pizza and pasta specialties for each region.

Finally we should remember that Italy is the largest producer of wine in the world so naturally traditional Italian food is always accompanied with a bottle or two of vintage red or white wine. Because of Italy’s landscape scope that includes the mountainous Alps and the southern Mediterranean beaches a rich and vibrant selection of wines can be found to accompany any traditional Italian food dish.

Can You Guess Which Food Item On The Restaurant Menu Has The Most Calories?

The other night I was out for dinner at Olive Garden in NYC, and saw on the menu, Fettuccine Alfredo. I love Fettuccine Alfredo, but, I thought superior not, too many calories. Maybe I will get grilled shrimp caprese instead, a superior choice. Then I noticed a set of numbers underneath the item, the calorie count. And the dish I wanted, Fettuccine Alfredo, was 460 calories less than what I thought the superior choice would be, Grilled Shrimp Caprese, OMG, 460 calories less.

This was my first time at a restaurant that listed calories, and I started thinking of all those times I have made the wrong choices, weight and health wise, at restaurants that don’t list out their calories.

When they first came out with this intent of listing calories on menus, I thought, “this is a stupid idea, another Government intrusion on our lives”. Now I know it’s about choice for us. So, how is not knowing what you are intake a superior intent then knowing?

Here are some other extraordinary restaurant meal offenders to watch out for:

The Sonic Supersonic Cheese burger has 898 calories and 52.6 grams of fat.
The Burger King Quad Stacker has 1010 calories and 70 grams of fat speak about a heart-attack inactivity to happen!
The Wendy’s Baconator triple with 830 calories and 35 grams of fat

So the question is, do you really want to know many calories you are consuming?

I would think so, because it is about making a knowledgeable choice, and right now most people have no intent how many calories are in the meals they are eating. Consumer suggests state it could be a powerful weapon against obesity, by simply allowing consumers to see how many calories they’re intake when they take out.

Right now, when hamburgers can range from 250 to over 1800 calories and even coffee drinks can range from 20 calories to 800 calories, it is time to post calories.

What do you think, should the calories be posted on all restaurant menus, not just the chain restaurants?
