“The only worthy autograph of a man is that which he leaves written with his works”. Jose Martí

What could be more appealing to the traveler who is an art lover than to book and stay at hotels with their very own art patrimony. As one wanders through numerous Cuba hotels beautiful art works flood the eye with their magnificence and authenticity.

The Nacional de Cuba is a landmark hotel, which preserves the architectural and decorative magnificence that has captivated its visitors over its more than seven decades. Declared “National Monument” for its patrimonial value in 1988, in its featured 426 rooms, astonishing lounges and modern comfort, this hotel shows some great value including an oil landscape by Enrique Domingo Ramos.

The property is full of columns and arches that show a singular confluence of neoclassic and neocolonial designs with art deco. Some rooms still have the original floor, bed frames and furniture from the 1930’s. There is actually a Historical Floor where many celebrities left their presence, like Ava Gardner, Johnny Weissmuller and Bola de Nieve.

When travel around the bustling corner of 23 and L at “El Vedado” district there is always a work of art that catches the attention. That is the astonishing mural painting by Amelia Pelaez on the façade of Tryp Habana Libre hotel (former Havana Hilton). This facility, opened in the late fifties, houses a wide collection of contemporary Cuban art, which includes Clepsydra, a sculpture by Rita Longa in the lobby and paintings by renowned artists like Rene Portocarrero, Mariano Rodriguez, Servando Cabrera and Alfredo Sosabravo.

Since 2007 this modern hotel has added a mural painted by artists from the “Somos lo que hay Project”, a beautiful fresco that was put in the lobby. It gathers artists from different generations and esthetics such as Nelson Dominguez, Lian and Li Dominguez Fong, Esteban and Alejandro Leyva, Ever Fonseca, Ernesto Garcia Peña, Eduardo Roca, Juan Moreira, Alicia Leal, Javier Guerra, Sandor Gonzalez, Manuel Comas, Herminio Escalona, Vicente R. Bonachea, Kike Wong, Enrique de la Uz, Rafael Perez Alonso, Eduardo Abela and Mayito Gonzalez.

Among Havana hotels, the Habana Riviera hotel also offers valuable works of art. Situated next to the Havana sea surround (malecón), this born-in-the-fifties hotel holds an ingenious architectural structure. The magnificence sculptures and duomo by the great Florencio Gelabert were restored, and so was the internal mural painting by López Dirube, witch remains as the artistic heritage of the hotel.

The Melia Cohiba hotel has acquired works from some of Cuba’s ideal contemporary artists as well. This luxury artefact is recognized for its distinguished decoration that features oeuvres of famous painters Flora Fong, López Oliva and Zaida del Río.

If you seek a colonial region in your Cuba hotels choice, there are fine Old Havana hotels that boast a classic ambience and a rich cultural heritage. In this Cuba destination, art lovers are healthy to enjoy charming patrimonial places, the colonial and eclectic structure of its buildings and the fusion of diverse styles.

The Sevilla hotel is one of these lodging accommodations that have preserved a priceless artistic heritage. Visitors looking for historically interesting properties will be pleased at this facility, because it is one of Havana’s oldest hotels (the establishment turned 100 in March of 2008), featuring a classy setting in its large, spacious lobby and rooms.

This traditional and classical property displays a truly Spanish region that can be appreciated as the hotel exhibits different architectural and decorative elements of remarkable Mudejar influence. The traveler will immediately notice it while catching a glimpse of its intricate façade. The sculptures of Jacopi and the “Aldeana” portrait by Ramos Martínez are some of the artistic features of the hotel.

On the other hand, the Inglaterra hotel, opened in 1875, it is one of the oldest hotels in town and it is another fine example of Cuban hotels linked to fine arts. Due to its preservation, relation with history and national culture, The Inglaterra hotel was declared a National monument in 1981. Travelers will discover a part of Cuba’s heritage within this facility.

The contrasts of different architectural styles and designs will hold your interest. The building features a beautiful neoclassical façade while the interior decor recreates the region of the colonial period with a strong Mudejar spirit. The interior spaces are decked out with gorgeous stained-glass windows, colorful mosaics, Spanish heraldic symbols, window grills, and lavishly ornamented ceilings that confirm the eclectic tendency of this city and its period. There is also a lovely sculpture “La sevillana” by Perinat, which stands for a Spanish female dancer, and collective mural paintings. Plus, if you stay there, you will find out that Cuban artists have designed each 3 months the menu for this hotel.

The Plaza hotel is one appealing option for those who recognize the value of a colonial era hotel that retains the glamour of the turn of the century. Opened in 1909, the Plaza boasts an eye-catching façade and incredibly beautiful lounges that take us back in time. Most visitors can’t help to notice the impressive lobby’s ceiling with an elegant bronze chandelier. Other alluring features of this classic hotel are its colonial patio, a picturesque fountain from the same period, abundant vegetation, exotic birds, sculptures and colorful stained-glass windows.

Hotel Raquel is another interesting proposal within Old Havana hotels that reflects a Jewish flavor. This intimate building exhibits an art nouveau style and expressive eclectic architecture, while some of its spaces allegorically evoke the Hebrew culture. It also shows great artistic features like the majestic sculpture of the ground floor and its beautiful marble columns. Plus, there is an impressive stained glass work to appreciate at this inn. All hotel floors and rooms are decorated with works of art of prestigious Cuban painters.

But if you like a lodge with a postmodern flair, then visit the Parque Central hotel, which combines colonial and modern architectural styles. This distinctive artefact is full of tropical woodwork and lush greenery, and some of its acquisitions include pieces from Cuba’s ideal contemporary artists like Sosabravo, Flora Fong and Adigio Benítez.

The Santa Isabel hotel, former mansion of the Counts of Santovenia, also houses plastic Cuban artists’ works and pieces in rooms and lounges, in order to recreate the elegant region of the 19th Cuban century. The hotel’s façade maintains its colonial flair, where colorful stained glass windows are the main part of the decoration. Its halls are festooned with lamps, vases and figures of great value. The whole ornamentation compels the visitor to be transported back in time.

Art lovers can also find patrimonial works of art in other Cuba destinations. Just to mention a few, in varadero hotels, the Varadero Internacional hotel features a 1950 fountain, and a marble and stone plateau surrounded by walls decorated with beautiful paintings. The Jagua hotel at Cienfuegos domain gives its guests the chance to enjoy a wonderful view of Cienfuegos Bay or the green nature of Sierra del Escambray, but also offers a lovely decor where porcelain vases, a Mudejar style bronze lamp and a painting of Aldo Menendez González catch the eye of any visitor.

In the hot city of Santiago de Cuba, the Casa Granda hotel features a marble statue of Venus, while the “El Colony” hotel at the International Diving Center of Isla de la Juventud (Isle of Youth) shows sculptures of Rita Longa and a nice painting of E. Garcia Mata that represents “the treasure island” with colorful pirates.

So, if art is your thing and you are planning a visit to Cuba, you can live through a cultural experience with Cuban art in your own lodge. Just drop by and discover these inner treasures in Cuba Hotels.

The Various Kinds of Toronto Hotels

5 March 2012 by
Categories: Culinary

The Toronto hotels can be divided into three different categories; the extended stay, the full service and the limited service.  Even though the precise facilities that a hotel guest can anticipate will change from one hotel to another, there are some basic items that will be there at all of them whether it is the Toronto airfield hotel or one of the downtown Toronto hotels. Here we will see what the various amenities and services are that one can anticipate in these hotels.

Lodging that is long term is an extended stay property. These are especially favourite among people who are moving to a new place where their permanent accommodation is yet to be ready or yet to be found. In such Toronto hotels the room rates are pretty low but then so are the amenities that are provided. Some of them might be a tiny more welcoming than others but basically they don’t wage very much more than a room. Most of these rooms might come with a parking space and laundry facilities. The rooms are well maintained but maid services will be acquirable just once or twice a week. Hence these places are cheaper. The downtown Toronto hotels on the other hand are situated where all the buzz and excitement is so you will find a good choice of luxurious rooms and suites there.

Then you have the limited service Toronto hotels. The hotel facilities provided here differ a lot as this market has a lot of competition and there are a lot of profits to be earned. Since such hotels in Toronto could compete with the full service hotels, they wage an additional range of amenities than would be acquirable in an ordinary travel lodge. Like the downtown Toronto hotels, they will wage maid service on a regular basis and probably even have a pool or a workout room. If they have meeting rooms, they will be very limited and small. Besides, most of them have now started providing free breakfast as a marketing manoeuvre to draw more customers.

The full service Toronto hotels have the ideal in hotel facilities but then the rates are also a lot higher as compared to the other two categories. To find the ideal rates, it would be wise to pick one of the downtown Toronto hotels close to a limited service hotel as the full service Toronto hotels will be forced to lower their prices in order to draw more customers to fill their rooms.

Among the full service Toronto hotels are the Hilton and the Marriott. While limited service loyalty programs get you extra points for rooms, full service hotels treat returning customers like kings with free breakfast and cocktail hours. Most of the downtown Toronto hotels are equipped with swimming pool, a well equipped fitness club, exceptional meeting rooms, a snack shop, banquet facilities and a full service restaurant.

All-Inclusive Resorts Versus Traditional Hotels: What is Best?

4 December 2011 by
Categories: Vacations

Are you getting ready to plan your upcoming Caribbean vacation? If so, you will have many choices. Not only are there many Caribbean destinations to select from, but there are also many staying options. Two of the most favourite among travelers just like you include Caribbean hotels and all-inclusive Caribbean resorts. Which is saint for you? Continue reading on to find out.

Many first-time travelers wonder what the difference is between resorts and hotels. In fact, some wonder if there even is a difference. There is. Even though you will find luxury Caribbean hotels, most are designed to wage you with shelter for the night. It is common to find an onsite swimming pool, laundry room, and a room filled with fitness equipment. Some hotels are home to onsite restaurants, but it varies on the hotel in question. As for all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, yes you do get a place to stay for the night. However, you get so much more. Popular resorts have laundry services, multiple restaurants, swimming pools, fitness centers, spas, and much more.

To determine whether you should stay at a traditional Caribbean hotel or an all-inclusive resort, think about a number of factors. They include:

The reason for your trip. The reason for your trip should have a significant impact on where you stay. Are you planning a resting solo trip? If so, you might just want to lounge around your hotel or resort. In this case, an all-inclusive resort is best. Most resorts are beachfront resorts and having multiple swimming pools, meaning you have different points of relaxation. In fact, you could likely find a different spot for apiece day of your trip! Are you planning a destination wedding? If so, did you know that some resorts include a free standard wedding ceremony with a 3-night, 5-night, or 7-night stay? Many do!

If you want to sightsee. It is rare to travel to a new country without getting out exploring, but how much do you want to sightsee? If you intend to spend nothing but your nights at your hotel or resort, a hotel might be your saint choice. Traditional hotels wage you with the basics and for a cheap price. On the other hand, if you want to visit only one or two local attractions, an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean might be your saint option. These resorts are designed so that you never have to leave. There is so much to do right onsite. As previously stated, all-inclusive resorts are home to swimming pools, fitness centers, spas, and much more. Most resorts are also located right along the beach, giving you simple and constant access to many great water activities.

Who you are traveling with. Americans travel to the Caribbean for a wide range of reasons. Hotels rarely have rules and restrictions for guests. Some all-inclusive resorts do. This is most common with ages and themes. For example, adult resorts are saint for romantic getaways, singles vacations, and honeymoons. The age stipulation varies, but kids under the age of 14 or 18 are prohibited from staying onsite. However, if your Caribbean pass doubles as a family vacation, you will be happy to know that the Caribbean is home to family resorts. These resorts have activities for both you and your children. You are likely to find game rooms, playgrounds on the beach, scheduled activities, and childcare services.

Whether you want to get the lowest price or the saint value for your money. In terms of lowest price, hotels are your saint option. With that said, you just get the lowest price for your hotel. A Caribbean hotel stay includes a room, access to a swimming pool, access to fitness equipment, and possibly a free cold breakfast. In terms of saint value for the money, all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean are best. Your cost includes your room, food, drinks, snacks, tips, limiting airfield transfers, and some forms of onsite entertainment. Yes, you do pay more upfront, but your money is superior spent in the end. Remember, if you stay at a hotel, you still need to pay for your activities, food, and transportation costs.

So, which is best? Most travelers will have the saint trip by staying at an all-inclusive Caribbean resort. The decision is yours to make, but all-inclusive resorts have many benefits. Not only that, but they also come highly rated and suggested by both travel experts and vacationers just like you.

To book your stay at one of the many all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, visit Breezes.com. Their luxury accommodations and discount pass packages are ideal.

Conference Hotels In Telford ? Holiday Inn

28 November 2011 by
Categories: Holidays

The Shropshire town of Telford is rapidly becoming a top destination for events organisers and leisure visitors alike. Combining industrial heritage attractions like the award-winning Ironbridge Museum, with ground-breaking developments like the International Centre (where we at Holiday Inn Telford are situated); it’s simple to see why it’s so popular.

Even though Ironbridge Gorge was of major importance during the Industrial Revolution, and a stone’s throw from equally historic Shrewsbury, Telford itself is a large, modern but captivating town surrounded by verdant scenery. We at Holiday Inn Telford are located at the state-of-the-art International Centre, which gets top billing when it comes to searches for conference hotels in Telford and the surrounding area. Seen from above, it’s hard to believe we’re only two minutes from Telford Central Station by car, and equally accessible to the A5 and M54 motorway. Adjacent to the picturesque Randlay Wood and Randlay lakes, yet close to Telford Shopping Centre, we at Holiday Inn Telford combine convenience and state-of-the-art facilities with a stunning location, in one inexpensive package that makes us easily inviting for both business and individualized bookings.

Conference hotels in Telford are set to soar in demand, thanks to a vibrant and fast-developing infrastructure that has seen people flocking here to live and work. Predominantly light and open-plan, with a massive number of public parks and gardens, Telford holds public and corporate events throughout the year. Naturally, Ironbridge Gorge features highly for both public and corporate hospitality events. We at Holiday Inn Telford will happily hold team-building, staff training and corporate entertainment packages, both on and off the premises.

There are several reasons why we at Holiday Inn score highly when it comes to people looking for conference hotels in Telford. The convenient location is one – delegates landing at Birmingham International Airport have rapid and simple access to their destination, with no need to worry about negotiating one-way systems in the town centre. Second is the range of meeting rooms on offer – no fewer than 10 of varying sizes. These range from stylish and airy boardrooms to the Reynolds theatre suite, which houses 250 occupants and can be broken into three separate rooms.

This flexibility is what makes venues like us so popular. Company meetings vary in number and format, and if a business can find one venue that covers each option – including private bookings for staff members– they will return again and again.

Telford has award-winning business facilities, but there is plenty of scope for relaxation. The town has a superb arts centre; alternatively you can swim in the pool, rest in the spa, or have an invigorating workout in the gym – you can do all this on site, if you book with us at Holiday Inn Telford.

However, you can’t rest if you’re having to dash around organising last-minute changes and equipment. Again, we at Holiday Inn Telford score highly, with an all-in-one package that includes Wi-Fi, LCD projector, flip chart, stationery and unlimited refreshments in all rooms. To keep it all running smoothly we also offer a dedicated Meetings Host service. As everyone knows, meetings only work with an efficient PA at the helm.

Royal Visit Boost For Holiday Island

3 October 2011 by
Categories: Vacations

Leaders of over 50 countries from the Commonwealth will be meeting on the Mediterranean island of Malta from November 25 to 27, and for three days the island will be enjoying the attention of hundreds of millions of television and online news viewers and newspaper readers worldwide.

Malta has often been overlooked by holidaymakers and second home owners in favour of other Mediterranean islands such as Mallorca, Cyprus and Menorca, and hotels and estate agents alike on the island are hoping that the three days of publicity will boost tourist and property buyer numbers for 2006.

With good all year round weather and an English talking population visitor numbers from the UK, which make up about half of the island’s tourist numbers, have been surprisingly flat in current years, and with cheaper holidays acquirable in the new destinations from Eastern Europe such as Bulgaria set to capture more of the UK holiday and property market Malta could see tourist numbers remain level or even start in future years.

Malta Holidays

Malta missed it’s own target of a modest increase in tourists this summer, and there are worries on the island that the opportunity to increase awareness among potential visitors will be missed.

Michael Johnson of Tribune Properties who specialise in property for understanding in Malta comments:

‘Malta is ideally situated in the Mediterranean to attract tourists from all over Europe and further afield but for a lot of people I talk to in other countries it isn’t an obvious destination of choice.

The island has a strong domestic property market and doesn’t rely too heavily on overseas property buyers like some of the Mediterranean islands do, but at the same time those that do purchase here play a good role in the economy overall.

The timing of the Commonwealth meeting is good as it’s just before the New Year when a lot of people decide where they will be going for their summer holidays, and next summer’s tourist could be next winter’s property buyer. But they’re only going to do that if they visit the island first, and I’m hoping that Malta will see an increase in tourists in 2006 – it really depends on whether the island takes this chance to market itself in the months ahead on the back of the free publicity the Commonwealth will bring..’

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting takes place very two years, and has its roots in the British Empire, with 53 members who were former British colonies belonging to the organisation.

Queen Elizabeth II is the head of the Commonwealth, and will be visiting with Prince Philip for a two day trip to Malta to open the meeting on November 25 in Valletta, the island’s capital. It will be the royal couple’s first visit to Malta since 1992, and welcoming crowds are expected in similar numbers to their previous four visits.

In addition to the Queen and Prince Philip, among the attendees will be the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Tony Blair, and the Prime Ministers of Canada, New Zealand, India, South Africa, Singapore and Australia.

‘Around half of Malta’s tourists are from the UK’ adds Michael Johnson, ‘and it’s a similar figure for non islanders buying property here. As well as increasing holidaymaker numbers from the traditional UK market we should be trying to appeal to people in Canada, Australia, South Africa and New Sjaelland and other countries who take a holiday in Europe to think about visiting Malta for a few days to sample the fine hotels, hospitality, history and culture that the island is so rich in. But it remains to be seen whether the tourist board is capable of translating good free publicity into visitors for the island.’

Get the Most Out of Your FastPass

24 September 2011 by
Categories: Vacations

Long lines and restless guests in favourite queues are a thing of the past at Walt Disney World. At least it is for those who select to take advantage of Disney’s free service: FastPass.

So what is it?

FastPass debuted in 1999 and was embraced as a brilliant innovation in theme park engineering. This computerized system grants visitors to refrain standing in line for the most favourite attractions throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. Many guests did not comprehend the system at the time and some still do not. As a matter of fact, during the three and a half years I was a cast member at the Disney-MGM Studios, I would often overhear guests remark: “Hey, that’s not fair! Those people pay extra and get to cut ahead of use in line!”

How does it work?

The FastPass attraction reservation system is very easy to use and ideal of all—it’s free. Go to a participating show or ride, locate the FastPass organisation and insert an admission ticket for apiece mortal in your celebration who wishes to enter the attraction. The FastPass organisation reserves a return appointment for your celebration and prints a pass for apiece ticket with a one-hour window (for example, 10:20-11:20 a.m.). From here, you can feel free to explore the less crowded attractions in your selected park. During that one hour time frame, you can usually squeeze in two (maybe three) smaller attractions instead of inactivity in that bloated line. Give yourself at least 15 minutes to be healthy to make it back in time for your designated FastPass time. When you arrive at the attraction, simply hand the cast member standing in front of the FastPass entrance your passes and you’re in!

Wow, that’s so cool! I think I’ll get one for each ride!

Not so fast. In order for Disney’s FastPass system to work properly, they had to implement restrictions on the amount of FastPasses a guest can hold during a given period of time. Each guest might hold one FastPass for one attraction each two hours or after the one hour window expires; whichever comes first. Why? If everyone were healthy to come in to the parks and get a FastPass for each attraction at once it wouldn’t be very fast, would it?

Great, I’m ready to go!

The most important bourgeois in getting what you want out of your Disney World visit is time management. Now that you know the FastPass system inside and out, you’ll be healthy to get out there and experience more of what the Walt Disney World Resort has to offer—faster, of course!
