2010 – Holiday Car Hire Hints

23 February 2012 by
Categories: Holidays

Even though Xmas has passed we are still engulfed in snow and cover to remind us that next summer is still a long way off.
To try and raise the spirits our thoughts switch to summer holidays and warmer temperatures. A few useful hints relating to car hire might come in handy whether holidaying abroad or at home this summer.
If holidaying at home you’re lucky because of the large number of major car rental companies who operate here and who also wage a countrywide network of offices.
If you are on a budget you would normally have to settle for a small economy car but don’t despair, if booking well in advance, give notice to your automobile hire company that you will accept an upgrade if necessary, this option then grants the car hire company flexibility on the day of rental commencement, which if it’s a busy one, could well result in you being upgraded to a larger car.
For those of you who desire the warmth of the sun on your backs, if you’re planning on a Spanish or Turkish holiday this year then be prepared.
The current economic troubles started to affect Spain back in 2008, the following year the £sterling had dropped to almost par with the Euro where it still remains, both these factors have led to large numbers from the UK not holidaying there because of the cost.
What has the above to do with automobile hire? Quite simply because of less UK residents holidaying there, car hire companies are not stocking the same number of hire vehicles.
The Automobile Hub team were one of the first to warn of a holiday automobile rental shortage in Spain last year, this shortage has continued over the current Xmas holiday period.
If you are considering a holiday automobile rental and would like to reduce the cost then give thought to the type of automobile you wish to hire. If your proposed rental period is for a week or more and you intend to get good usage from the automobile think about hiring a diesel or even a hybrid, over a week’s rental or longer you could save the equivalent of a day’s hire charges by doing this.
Another bourgeois to think about is to where do you have to return the automobile Most reputable companies should have a good national dealership which grants for the return of automobiles to any location either free or a small extra charge.
For holidaymakers venturing to Turkey, which has the attraction of not being in the Euro and therefore on average a cheaper destination than Spain, there are other obstacles to contend with.
Car hire in Turkey is costly because of the high tax paid on the importation of cars into the country, added to this is the minimum age for anyone considering automobile hire is 19.
Further points to note are, before completing your automobile hire agreement check, a) whether the mileage is restricted or not, this can vary from hire company to hire company and can establish very expensive, b) get clarification about who pays for alteration if there is an accident.
Lastly, the hire automobiles that are acquirable in Turkey are very basic models, only the most costly of automobiles will have automatic transmission and air conditioning.
To obtain the best automobile hire deals in the marketplace use a reputable comparison site such as the one we have resourced for our members here at The Automobile Hub.

Jamaica: the Treasure Island of the Caribbean

22 February 2012 by
Categories: Vacations

Jamaica. You are sitting in your cubicle bored to death with a tedious office job when suddenly this word just pops up in your head promising you a distant paradise surrounded by the blue waters of Caribbean. You begin dreaming about your next pass and go online to book an all inclusive package. Jamaica, move for me — I’ll be coming soon!

Your flight lands in Montego Bay and you are plunged into the hectic region of the airfield crowded by the hordes of tourists: groups, couples and families. A jolly tune of a steel drum band welcomes you and so do hundreds of merchants trying to sell you nearly everything: beer, cool drinks, newspapers, souvenirs. They greet you in the state manner: ‘Yah Mon’ (yeah man), ‘Y’allright?’ (are you all right?), ‘Whaapen’ (what’s happening?).

Finally you find the resort representative. ‘No worries mon,’ states he while helping you whith your luggage. Now brace yourself, the ride to your resort is about to star. The bus driver seems to have no regard to his, yours or pedestrians life and if you are motion sickness prone — you’d superior get a paper bag ready. Oh no, he seems to be driving the wrong side of the street! ‘No worries mon’, it’s a tradition the Brits left here. By the way, this is a good reason not to rent a automobile in Jamaica.

Once you left the airfield park you begin noticing contrasts. The stunning Blue Mountains are surely a incredible view. But they are also a backdrop of the striking poverty reminding you that you are in a third world country. Shacks built of rusty metal and some unrecognizable materials occupy the sides of the road. They are homes for thousands of Jamaicans, and while you drive by you see some of them doing their regular business or simply sitting in the shade and relaxing.

You arrive to your resort which again is a striking contrast to what you have seen on your way there. Most state hotels are examples of luxury and comfort which are reflected in their far above average prices. You will find the resort staff friendly and welcoming. Let them care about your luggage and go to the nearby diner to enjoy some of the ideal food in Caribbean.

‘Nyam’ is state for ‘to eat’. Jamaicans are well known meat-eaters and their favorite dishes are jerk chicken and pulled pork. Patties are also delicious, filled with meat and vegetables, sometimes too hot and spicy. Be careful — most traditional dishes have bones in them, don’t be shy to pick them out of your mouth and place them on the side of your plate, everybody does so.

Be sure to try two famous brands of Jamaica: Blue Mountais Coffee and Red Stripe Beer. And don’t miss the awesome liquor they have there: Pimento Dram.

If you want to have some shopping fun, go to a local market, like the one in Ocho Rios. Enjoy the whirling region of a state marketplace where hundreds of merchants are desperately trying to sell you things you’d never need. Some will meet you before you get into their booth and take you inside constantly speaking and piling one item on another into your face.

Jamaica’s gems are not just white beaches or glorious nature. state people, vibrant and friendly folk are the true treasure of the island. Good purchase Jamaica, Jah Bless, Likkle more, I’ll be coming back soon!

U.S. consumers more confident of home prices

According to a survey conducted by the Prudential Real Estate Outlook on 1000 Americans, in the age group of 25 – 64 years having a household income of minimum ,000, it was found that expiry of tax credit has negligible effect on home purchasing. The online survey was conducted from April 15 to April 20. The main concerns of homebuyers were jobs and mortgage rates, and the least concern was the expiration of tax credit policy. The Prudential Real Estate Outlook informed the survey has a margin error of + or – 3 %.

The survey found that the Federal home-buyer tax credit policy helped in stimulating the income of residential properties and the consumers are now aware of the fact that the price of the properties are lowest and therefore, the market will improve in future.

Some of the main points of the survey were:

61% of the home buyers cited low mortgage rate as main cause for home purchasing.

65% of the respondents stated “the end of tax credit policy has tiny or no effect on their interest for home purchasing.”

90% of the surveyed believed “the tax credit policy has helped first time home buyers.”

46% believed “the prices will increase in a year. ”

79% of the respondents stated “over a period of five years, the prices will increase. ”

U.S. April month’s retail income will be up 1.7%

Retailers found an increase in income in the month of April as the consumers were willing to spend more. Retail Chains of Abercrombie & Fitch, Target Corp, J.C. Penney Co and many other will report the same-store income of the year on Wednesday and Thursday, and according to the Thomson Reuters data the same store income will be 1.7% more in the month of April as compared to 2.7% of drop in the last year.

A record 9.1% increase in income was reported in March during the Easter holidays and market analysts are inactivity to see the two months combined report. This will be eighth consecutive month growth as the consumer spending on non-essential items has risen.

Buyers who delayed buys in 2009 have come out and they are spending to purchase new clothes and other household items. New fashion models has been introduced and analysts are anticipating the March to April income to be at 5.4%, which is 4% more than the gains made in February month and 3.3 % more than January.

Market analysts believe consumer spending is contagious and once spending starts it would not stop immediately. It is believed that the new trend will not disappear in near future.

April 2010 was dry month as compared to April 2009 and the climate helped shoppers to reach markets. In the clothing section some retailer did exceptionally well and the change in climate helped the retailer of footwear to see an increase in sales.

Conservative Poet

Tom Zart’s 87 Poems of Love
Family & Faith

LIKE A LILY AMONG THE THORNS

Like a lily among the thorns,
So are you among the rest.
Your love is my joy of life
Which by God’s grace is the best.

When I sleep my heart is awake
It is the vice of love within.
By day or night I seek your love
My life mate, my partner, my friend.

You ravish my heart with just one look
When I’m less than you desire.
Your eyes talk without words
As displeasure kindles your fire.

Your beautiful and extraordinary
Like a fragrant flower from the wild.
I dream of the day you softly whisper
“My love, I carry your child.”

The vines place forth their tender grapes
The fig tree her sweet fruit of life.
My love for you is everlasting
As you nourish my need for a wife.

God gave man a woman to adore
And a woman a man to respect.
God gave us kids we love till death
To wage for, cherish and protect.

Until it’s dawn and the shadows flee
I will hold you close and ponder
Our life together past and present

And might our future be blessed by wonder.

RELATIONSHIPS

One of the most rewarding things, apiece of us can do

Is the acknowledgment of others and their fears.

To promote their happiness and sense of worth

By our love, concern, laughter and tears.

Staying hot to display are willingness

To recognize our support from others.

Where would we be without the people we love

Friends, mom, dad, grandparents, sisters and brothers.

We treasure our relationships and pray to maintain them

As they give us our passion and purpose in life.

Cherishing our family, our faith, our country

Our honor, our husband or wife.

A SCORNFUL WOMAN & A SELFISH MAN

A scornful woman can rip you apart

Destroy your libido and harden your heart.

They shout their list of your apiece flaw

Declaring you’re lucky you get it at all.

A selfish man can become even worse

When they lie, cheat, beat, steal and curse.

Always demanding to stay king of the castle

As they force their partner to suffer their hassle.

A happy woman thrives on love, faith, family and friends,

A worthy man provides, protects and defends.

Say “No” to Satan and cast him out

Say “Yes” to Jesus and become his scout.

MY HOPE TO FIND LOVE

So here I am, like many times before
All alone with my grappling to the moon.
Down on knees praying God
For someone who will love me and soon!

The smallest deed done is superior than intention
When you wish to receive wisdom from above.
No matter what happens, I refuse to give up
My hope to discover the illusion of love.

The superior the reason for my existence
The superior the life I will live.
Searching for someone who will share their love
By their joy when it’s their turn to give.

My hope to find love has somewhat diminished
Though my need for romance still remains.
Sometimes I feel like Sampson himself
Broken hearted and shackled to chains.

THE GREATEST LESSON ONE CAN LEARN

The greatest lesson one can learn
Is how when loved, to love in return.

Joined together through night and day
Equally yoked in work and play.

Remaining true both body and soul
Never loosing our common goal.

Sharing apiece other the ideal we can
Before we are but bits of sand.

Mutual love is beyond compare
Serving one another in the life we share.

Without compassion humans lose
Simply by the path they choose.

Love is a miracle from God to man
How some deny it I can’t understand.

WINGS of HEAVEN

It’s a wonderful situation
To be in love with you.
All my thoughts have changed
Because of everything you do.

I demand the desire for others
No yearning for their love or favor.
All I wish is a life with you
Till it’s time to greet our Savior.

I was afraid I would never find love
Leaving no stone unturned.
I had to suffer through stupidity
To grow from all I learned.

Life is too short to remain a fool
Who doesn’t see blessings handed down.
From now to judgment I will love you
Till the wings of heaven whisper their sound.

SO DEAR TO MY HEART

So dear to my heart are my loved ones at home
As I toss and I turn in my bunk all alone.
Each day I see death, hate and corruption
Combat is God’s proof of man’s malfunction

For family, comrades and myself I pray
To my love with this poem I wish to convey.
I knew I loved you though never how much
Till by war, I’m forced beyond your touch.

Where violence thrives, there’s the stench of death
With the taste of fear on apiece breath.
Who shall prevail, who shall die?
As the sadistic kill beneath God’s sky.

Baghdad has become man’s highway to hell
Where the hearts of darkness are alive and well
I count apiece day till it’s time to come home
And be with my love and never alone.

Love You
Your Marine

MARRIAGE SEX AND ROMANCE

Some other time, I’m not in the mood
Why cant we just cuddle and watch TV?
When couples drift into the celibate zone
It’s not long till someone will flee.

Sexual fulfillment helps preserve love,
Parenthood, marriage and self-esteem.
Those who maintain it refrain saying no
To be blessed by its pleasure and gleam.

While dating we tend to be more romantic
Putting forth the ideal of our charms.
Sharing dinners, long walks and lustful weekends
As we spend more time in apiece others arms.

How many times have you stated “not tonight”
Exposing your happy home to harm?
Today’s crushing deadlines leave tiny time for love
Leaving partners with sorrow, unhappiness and alarm.

So share one another with red wine and time
Dial your own number and leave the phone off the hook.
Enjoy some romance, sex and laughter
Improving your mood and the way you look.

MOTHERS

There’s no greater power on earth
Than the love we get from our mothers.
They feel our fears within themselves
Far more than sisters or brothers.

As seasons pass; in time we learn
We can’t always rely on others.
No mater what our mistakes might be
We know we can run to our mothers.

Mothers have great huge aprons
To hide from the world our flaws.
They kiss and scold when we do wrong
Teaching compliance of laws.

From birth to death moms lead
Our angels of kindness from above.
They give us more than anyone else
Preaching the importance of love.

Mothers are certainly God’s gift to earth
So if you still have one, let it be known.
You can’t envision your life without her
While the seed of your future is sown.

DON’T  FORSAKE  ME ?

Don’t forsake our love my darling
On this night before our wedding day.
I know your ex is crying to get back
But that’s just the price he’ll have to pay.

Good guys wage for their families
Tell the truth, pay bills and remain true.
Bad guys procrastinate, chase women and party
Then blame their shortcomings, on “you”.

I will love you only and tend to your needs
Never to lie, steal or cheat.
Giving all I have to share and prosper
And when wrong I will accept defeat.

Your happiness is my inspiration
For when I please you, you please me.
I wish to dad our kids and give them love
And be the ideal husband a man can be.

MY FAVORITE POET

My favorite poet is God above
Who gives Earth its rhythm and rhyme.
Not pied pipers of misguided souls
Who promote distrust, hatred and crime.

Poetry is nature serenading in song
The peaceful roar of the oceans waves.
The wind through the trees and over the hills
And the flowers in the fields by the graves.

The sound of rain as it waters the thirsty
The songs of kids at play in the park.
The far off rumble of trains or thunder
As they pass through the night in the dark.

There are doubts that the deaths caused by flu have not been caused by swine flu, instead by the regular flu which kills 36,000 people each year in the US alone. People are in a state of panic and researchers too are worried because this unknown strain has no cure or vaccine as yet. However, confusion continues as according to some reports there have been no deaths caused by swine flu.

Two Albertans have returned to Canada with a mild form of swine flu. This news has been confirmed by the officials however, they have not given out details of the age of the patients or which places they visited in Mexico. Canada fears many more cases now but so far only a few have been reported and no deaths as yet. A travel advisory has been issued for Mexico, hence Air Canada and Air Canada Vacations have suspended operations to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Cozumel till June 1. The airlines state that flights to Mexico will continue. WestJet and WestJet Vacations too have suspended operation in Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta till Might 4 at least. This decision is definitely going to affect the passengers, however not the tourism industry of Mexico. As summer approaches, the high season for tourism also comes to an end.
